Chocolately Sweet Nothings and Milo Chat Interiors are paintings that bid the comforts of "Home". The colour palette is derived from Milo--a popular chocolate drink which most Singaporeans have been brought up on and drink occasionally. The paintings manifest from colour studies of the various states and temperatures of the drink; also the packaging of the product. Each image is an abstraction of HDB (Singaporean public housing) interiors; photographed via screen captures taken from Skype conversations between San Francisco and Singapore. The paintings encapsulates childhood associations, personal relationships, traces of conversations, space and place-- mediated through memory, technology, and paint. The most delectable conclusion to this work and process is that Milo is purple!
