Brevity + Gravity
Brevity + Gravity is a presentation of artwork developed and installed site-specifically in three sets at AIRY (Artist in Residence Yamanashi), Japan, as part of a two person exhibition. The paintings, Street Cred (Yamanashi), are part of Adeleine's on-going inquiry into chance encounters that occur within lived environments and day-to-day routines--an articulation of Everyday Myths. In this rendition of painted found sculptures, the oil on board surfaces are propped up by furniture and existing fixtures found in the gallery, giving the paintings a 3-dimensional form and contextual narrative. Also interjected into the installations are linocut-prints based on batik designs which Adeleine has progressively developed from earlier works as a visual vocabulary to infer cultural and travel patterns.
